So we need a warning light to tell us we've left the parking lights on?

I tend to double check that I haven't left the lights on, and touch wood, so far, so good  :)

My Accumate has rescued several totally flat batteries over the years (latest on the Vee this spring), wonder why the Optimate won't do the same?

Same manufacturer

On my very first day of ownership, I left the parking lights on at work. So, after 8 hours the battery was dead - but called the AA, bumped it and not had a problem for 7 years since  :lala:

To kill the parking light, cut the brown wire coming off the ignition switch. That will separate a stub from the switch and a length going to the main loom. Connect the latter to the grey or orange/green wire next to it. The color will vary by bike model and where the wire is cut.
Pat- 2007 DL650A was ridden to all 48 contiguous states. 2012 DL650A outlasted me.
Nicknames I use to lessen typing, Vee = 2002-2012 (K2-L2) DL1000s. Veek=2014+ (L4+) DL1000s. Wee = 2004-2011 (K4-L1) DL650s. Glee = 2012+ (L2+) DL650s

Or just look at your lights as you leave the bike...

Will cutting the parking light wire stop the hazard lights working when removing the key?

Strange as it seems.... my 63 plate Glee is electrically dead this morning after a 140mile trip yesterday... I too suspect I may have left the parking lights on but will be calling the AA out tonight when I get home from work. I will update you tonight.

Confirmed fookwitt Strommer  :shy:  :shy:  :shy:  :shy:  :shy:

It gets better.... I took it out for a spin tonight to help with the charging process and for a moment believed the bike was performing better than ever...massive bonus as it flew up to 70 in no time at all....

I'm now looking through the manual to work out how to change the settings back to MPH not KPH

I'll get my coat!

My mate was telling me of the time when he left his lights on his BMWF800 on all day. He called tha AA (or maybe it was the RAC), telling them he had a flat battery - they sent out one of their new electric recovery vans which are not allowed to carry a separate car battery!  :angry-tappingfoot:  - he had to wait another hour for a 'normal' van to turn up!
