Intermittent Indicator?
« on: April 29, 2013, 18:27:59 »
Hi

I know there is a thread already on this but I have tried the simple and it ain't worked....Switch Hazzards on and only left hand indicator works and yes I'm having problems with the right hand indicator. I'm guessing the the indicator relay with back and front being U/S. Its just a case of where is it. I thought I had the downloaded manual but can't find it so if anyone has a copy, muchly appreciated. And any ideas on the problem will be greatly recieved. Its a 53 K2 DL1000. I'm going to keep trying but any help would be cool.

Cheers

There's a link to manual downloads from the v-strom.co.uk homepage: hopefully one of those will help.

Paul,
had a similar problem, turned out to be the connector at just where the indicator connects to the loom, water was going down the wire a shorting it.

cheers

Same Fault as above>>>>>> :neen:

I had the same issue: After posting on here, I found that the solution was to loosen  off the housing on the handle bars and give the wiring a good spray with WD 40 or something similar/ cheaper, this worked a treat and saved me from having to strip the whole lot down.

good luck with whatever you do. :lala:

Hi all

Thanks for the info, In a way you got it, but the loose connection is under the tank, wriggle the loom and they work,Going to have a close look later today let you know how I get on.

Check the yellow connector under the tank & behind the radiator. Its a favourite for indicator & light problems. The contacts get corroded, but you need to take off the tank & airbox to get at it properly.

If your heading towards corrosion in your wiring also check the two connectors down at the bottom left side of the fairing. A few months ago I lost my headlights at 60mph in the pitch black on a tight bend when flicking from dip to main.  These two plugs didn't seem to be corroded and had a red barrier of some sort all over them, but they were definitely to blame. After a good scrape in the female part with a thin screwdriver and a liberal squirt of WD40 they've been fine since.
