Re-position back brake
« on: April 25, 2013, 06:58:33 »
Hi Lads

I have not been on here in a while and need a bit of advice.  Firstly, let me say that although I own a Tiger XC and a member of the Tiger 800 Forum the information and advice passed on this forum is far more useful to people like me.  I will clarify people like me: useless!

I purchased some after market Touratech Foot pegs as I always felt like I'm slipping off the OEM ones.  However, when I started to strip the old ones off I found I can't get pass the back brake lever.  How do I move it out of the way. I have checked my owners manual and it says nothing about re-positioning of back brake lever.  I get nervous about touching anything to do with brakes :occasion-balloons: .

Any help would be great please.

just don't loosen the pipes, that way the braking system won't be affected  :fix:

Thanks lads, but as I said I am pretty useless, so. How do I remove my back brake pedal?  why would I need to tamper with my exhaust (pipes)?

I have never seen a tigger brake pedal but often pedals are on splines. You just undo the nut on the pedal, pull it off and then put it back on a few teeth further round. Simples.

Of course, it might be completely different on a Tiger.

Hello Jacko I was on the verge of buying the Wee but dealer couldn't get me one in time.  Having never ridden one was going to buy the new one on the strength of this forum and its camaraderie.  Never mind I will take a ride to the dealership in Limoges and see what they can tell me, it will be in French of course so may end up none the wiser lol

Yeah you can do that or adjust the spline on the brake lever (follow the mechanism along) and you will see a threaded metal rod go up to a part which basically puts pressure on the brake fluid. There are two nuts on the metal rod which can be adjusted to move the brake lever up and down a bit. It is more for your foot's angle when using the brakes , not really for you if you want more leg room but they might just make the difference you want.
