Help needed, heat from DL1000 exhaust?
« on: June 10, 2013, 17:44:00 »
I've bought some hang over panniers and fitting them to my bike, the bungees and panniers touch the exhaust casing. I am going to be doing a long trip on it... Will I catch fire??

Don't you have exhaust shields? They are there to prevent heat burns

Yes I do, though they do still get hot. I did a test run for an hour today and seems OK. Thanks.

If you're worried still, get hold of some of that reflective foil/foam stuff they sell to stick behind (household) radiators and sew/stick a section to the inside of each pannier. This'll keep the insides a bit cooler.
