Speedo gone wonky
« on: January 31, 2013, 09:40:13 »
Anyone help me with this one on my glee (self serviced so no warranty) bike runs fine, gear indicator and temp guage works fine but digital speedo kept jumping about and now shows as 0mph and the odometer has stuck which is good for mileage but kind of makes life difficult. Is this a case of replacing a fuse or cleaning a sensor as my bike got caked in slush when we had the snow????

Probably the wheel sensor or a connection to it. The manual (here) has a section on diagnosing these parts with a multimeter :)

Probably got water in it. I seem to remember someone with a Wee having a speedo problem when water got in it. Think it was OK when it dried out

Why? If you have not touched the sensor (not part of any service routine) and it is a manufacturing defect the warranty stands. They can't blame you changing the oil on a Sunday for the speedo going pop.

Point them towards the Sale of Goods Act.

Thanks folks, there was some condensation in the display panel so I reckon it just needs disassembling, dryjng off and then a dousing with acf50
