Well I have to start by saying I had to get advice from Juvecu to simply fit my muffs a year ago but today I finished my 14k service.
I undertook the last service (Oil filter and air filter) and after it going rather swimmingly I thought I would take the plunge on the Valve clearance service as well.
So over the last few days I have :
Removed and cleaned all of the brakes and copper greased all components
Oil and filter change
Spark plugs changed to iridium
Chain adjusted
Fitted the power for my heated Keela jacket
Checked the air filter
Replaced the coolant including flushing through the system
Every nut (that I could find) removed and ACF50 grease applied
ACF50 spray applied to every part of the bike
Finally and lastly I have checked my Valve Clearances
I am absolutely delighted to have bitten the bullet and done it. I read loads and looked at a few videos after printing off the service manual and purchasing a few tools I went in and checked the clearances. If they had been out I wouldn’t have replaced any shims I simply was checking and if out of tolerance I would have put together again and booked her in for a service with my local garage (I really didn’t have the kahoonas to change them).
Lucky enough they were all within tolerance so I put it all back together, started her topped up oil and coolant and finally went for a test ride and all seems fine.
The only job left is new tyres and as I can’t get any nearly new trailwings I have decided to go to the dark side and I have two Anakee2’s
waiting for me at my local garage (fitted for £212)
I thought I would post, as I am a perfect example of “ if I can do it anybody can!!”
I have to thank Parasound AKA Dr Vstrom
as I use his processes sellotaping bolts to a paper map of where they came from that really has saved me time and heartache!
