scam
« on: October 04, 2012, 10:09:08 »
This is probably an old thing but it has happened to a couple of mates recently on two occasions (both in North East).

You go to look at a car or bike with cash in hand.  You arrange to meet the sellers somewhere and you arrive as expected. When you get out of the car the sellers pull a knife (or stun gun as was the case this time) and they take your money and your ride / car...

If you go to look at a car or bike take someone with you and make sure they stay in the car, doors locked and phone in hand.  Maybe even take a sneaky picture on your phone when you first arrive.

Sounds like the agreed meeting place should be the local police station....

Its such a shit thing to have happen. Bring back medieval torture chambers! A telling off from the judge and a stylish chunky ankle bracelet are not deterrent enough!

I advocate removal of the testes using a rusty blunt chisel, no point allowing the bastards to breed.

sure it was on your road Ben, looked a bit dodgy when I was there...  :)

not quite sure to be honest, one of them happened on Monday evening, they ended up in the cop station all night giving descriptions, mug shots etc.

Your right, hack em off with a blunt knife!!!

they are only taking advantage of idiots,,

just don't be an idiot....

Basic safety, ask for sellers home address and a land line telephone number.. only view at residential or business properties,,, otherwise the bike or car is likely to be dodgy anyway..  however,,  if you are after doing a dodgy deal then you get all you deserve....

Updated rules for viewing a new car/bike?

1. Don't take the money the first time
2. Park a bit away and walk the rest
3. Don't meet in a non-residential area/business premises

It's horrible that people like that even exist.
