Touratech Fog Lights
« on: September 12, 2012, 09:12:53 »
Hello,

Has anyone had experience of the following? Fitting/ownership etc.

http://shop.touratech.co.uk/fog-headlig ... l-650.html

I like the look of them and the fact that they attach to a bracket that actually fits to the fairing, rather than attach to a crash bar. However I don't like the wiring option, it looks like you just pass the cabling over the fairing down past the stock and behind the radiator. Does anyone see an issue with making a small mod of a hole in one of the fairing panels to pass the cabling through - may be then cable tie it to the inside and neatly cable it in behind the radiator thus hiding the ugly cable?!?

Cheers

Yeah agreed, they're not cheap! But probably the best looking and best placement on the wee that I've seen.

I have been given some daytime LED ridig/driving lights that cost £90 for a pair. My mate has the same on hos bike mounted on the rad guard. I hven't got one and trying to find a way to mount then to crash bars. Any ideas?  Those turatech do look nice, but the price is a killer for me

These are a better option:

Lower power drain, and wire direct to battery with built in electronic power on/ off

These are the same ones that I was given. Was told that they cost £90 :(;). What a friend.

Has anyone mounted then on the crash bars?

I have these, they are bright as flump but they don't cast a beam, so no good as a fog/driving lamp, great as a running light - if a bit flimsy.

They're 110watts the pair - which is quite a load.  These are good and much cheaper and 15 watts.   http://www.bikevis.com/motorcycle-rigid-industries-duallys.html

Some people have had problems when fitting extra lamps which are quite high wattage. The alternator output on the v-strom is not that high ( about 375-425w IIRC). If you fit these & you run some other extras such as heated grips/clothing, etc, you may find it has not got enough power to run them all.
that's why LED's are a favourite with most on here.

Have a look here

He fitted 55w lights but then had to change the bulbs to LED's

I keep plugging them on here but the Vision X LED ones I bought are superb, very bright, solidly built
and most importantly, only 10watt draw per light.
don't waste your money on overpriced touratech gear.

I had them mounted on a pat walsh lightbar just under the nose fairing, but have since moved
them to just above the indicators attatched directly onto the fairing.
I'll post a pic if you want(tomorrow).
