Help- OEM centre Stand Angle of the Dangle
« on: May 30, 2012, 05:25:36 »
OK, I have my bike lowered and it takes two or three people to get it up when it is loaded.

What I need to know is, on a 2009 ABS model with OEM centre stand and original height, what is the angle between the stand and the junction of the swing arm when the stand is just touching the ground

Mine needs a section removed so I can get it up myself. I have an opportunity soon, so using the info supplied I should be able to work out exactly how much to remove  :)

would it be easier/better to add a longer arm to the 'pad' (the thing you stand on, what's that thing called?!)

No, what has happened is that because the bike is lowered, the stand now has a more shallower angle when it touches the ground, so it needs to be levered up higher to get it vertical, which means lifting the bike more

The standard setup means it can just be rolled gently onto the stand

Remember that even if you get the angle right you still need to make sure that the rear wheel isn't carrying weight when it's on the centre stand. Point being, don't make it too short by just going by the angle. If I can find an angle measure thingy (what are they called again?) when I'm at home this weekend I will see if I can measure it if no one else has done so in the meanwhile, no promises though.

Easier to just fashion some sort of a ramp from a few scraps of wood and run the back wheel up onto that before deploying the stock stand I reckon - that's what I did a few years back when Mrs Iggy was running a lowered bike....... All you need is to get the back of the bike to a similar height to stock and it'll roll onto the stand as normal - simples

Don't think I've ever heard that word before. Must be that I only know the Afrikaans word for it then, well, not anymore :)

Well this has been interesting, between here and VSRI I have some measuring to do and maybe use some string

I think an inclinometer is the word you need, or open your iPhone and use the handy level ;)

I never got around to this at all, I sat inside playing Diablo 3 all the long weekend. Sounds like you got the needed info though?

Well I was given a different measurement over on VSRI

It was from the floor to the bottom of the bolt that holds the chain block guide which was 830mm

I measured mine and it is 820mm so that means if I remove 10mm it should be around the same
