« on: April 10, 2012, 12:41:15 »
Was wiping down the bike earlier and found what looks like road salt on the rad .. tried washing it off with hot soapy water but nothing seems to move it and it seems to spread ...

I don't know if the photo will show it clearly but its deffinatley there .. may just be me over reacting but keen to see if anyone else has had this ... Its the new wee by the way lol

Might be corosion caused by inadequate painting at the factory.  Might be an idea to see if it can be replaced under warentee.

Might be road marking paint or fertiliser or some other crap left on the road by another vehicle.

Looks like ally corrosion to me, get it back to the dealers.
It's pronounced 'twenty-one-twelve'

If this happened to your car you'd be back in the showroom throwing toys, babies and bathwater all over the place but second rate fit & finish on bikes seems to be acceptable...

I'd be back to the dealer as it's not fit for purpose - it should be of an acceptable quality...
No bike at present.......

On an older bike, yes, I agree.
But on a new bike, I'd be back at the dealers & complain, to see what they'll do about it.
If they get away with this standard of finish, they'll keep producing it. Wouldn't accept it on a new car, why accept it on a new bike?!?

Have you used the bike during the winter ? It looks like road salt ? I have a new Wee but mine looks OK.

Thanks for all the replies .... Funnily enough its in for service on the morning so am going to have a word

Have I used the bike in winter??   ... Well no not really its only done 850 miles and most of them have been dry .. a few times in the wet yes but nothing riddiculous .. and its always been wiped down then washed afterwards.

I love the bike don't get me wrong but there's a couple of things that I havnt been overly impressed with .. and to be honest I don't think its the bikes fault .. was not happy with the dealers - Colin Appleyards keighley .. the left handgaurd seems to move slightly down all the time even though it is tight both at the bar end and the other end...

Rant over .. as I say I don't think its the bike (lovley bike)  ... just not that impressed with the service and that ..

Maybe someone can recommend another dealer in the vicinity?

Must admit that I am surprised that you have had a bad time with Colin Appleyards.  Members of the Goldwing club swear by this dealership almost always commenting on excellent service.
Have a chat with Barry Walton.  He deals with Goldwings mostly but is normally very customer focused.
