F1 fault
« on: April 02, 2012, 22:16:41 »
Hi, I've just bought a DL1000 and am very pleased with the bike in general except for one aspect. Unless I turn the ignition on with the kill switch on the fuel pump will not kick in and an F1 fault shows resulting in the bike not starting. If I turn the ignition on with the kill switch off and then tuen the kill switch on, the fuel pump will not kick in and the bike will not start. Is this a problem or is this just the bike and the way you need to start it. Your advice would be most appreciated. regards mike.

An FI indicates a problem. Find out where the fault lies by checking http://www.vstrom.info/Smf/index.php/topic,7061.0.html
An FI is read at the normal clock position except for 2002-3 DL1000s which display at the odometer.
Pat- 2007 DL650A was ridden to all 48 contiguous states. 2012 DL650A outlasted me.
Nicknames I use to lessen typing, Vee = 2002-2012 (K2-L2) DL1000s. Veek=2014+ (L4+) DL1000s. Wee = 2004-2011 (K4-L1) DL650s. Glee = 2012+ (L2+) DL650s
