Power drop 3-4k RPM
« on: April 17, 2012, 21:41:47 »
Hi Lads,

Just got my DL1000 serviced with new exhaust gasket fitted, noticed the lack of torque in between 3-4k RPMs, very annoying during acceleration under heavy load, feels like running on 6 gear in this range of RPM.Know it is a common issue with DL1000 but mine was absolutely spot on until the exhaust gasket repair. Have the gear indicator with TRE fitted but noticed no difference when disconnected.  The fuel was reached during last years service which make it run very smooth. Is this needed again? Is TBS needed again after sealing the exhaust?

Regards
Michal

What do you mean by "the fuel was reached"?

Some Suzuki dealers have been told to load a different ECU map when the DL1000 goes to them for a service. I'd be pretty pissed off if the dealer did this to my bike without telling me. It could be the case that they did it and didn't bother to tell you and now you have a 'standard' fuel map with all the gremlins that comes with it. TBS being out of sync wouldn't cause these kind of issue and I doubt that a problem related to the exhaust gasket would cause trouble like this.

The only way you can get this fixed is to have it Yoshi boxed again. +15% in the low range sounds like a lot. You probably need +5% in low and perhaps +5% in medium. It's a trail and error kind of thing depending on the mods you have on the bike already.

Thanks for your input and apologies for my english  :) It's not Suzuki dealer I am servicing my dl in, its Kawasaki as they know pretty much all about it - KLV being the same bike actually. They didn't change ECU or remapped it its 2005 model out of warranty, was wondering if oxygen sensor is acting up on me maybe? Will ask them to ''yoshi'' it again see what the results are. Once again thanks!

If they didn't change anything then you shouldn't need the Yoshi again. I doubt it's the oxygen sensor, it's to specific for it to be something that affects everything. The O2 sensor should also show a error code if there was a fault with it. If it's something they caused they should sort it out.
