You might just have a broken wire on that side. However, I've had heated grips for years on a variety of bikes and I've always found the throttle grip is a lot warmer than the other side. You'd think the manufacturers could sort that out. I've got a 2010 wee with factory heated grips and I think they're poor..I have the dial turned to max but at low revs there's not much warmth coming from the left grip in particular.

I wonder if it's because you naturally grip the throttle more tightly than the other grip?

The difference in heat is because the throttle grip is on a plastic sleeve and the left side is on the bare metal. The "cure" is to remove the left grip and wrap insulation tape around the bar before re-fitting.

Having said all that, I have Oxford Hot Grips and don't seem to have this problem....and I believe they are considerably more toasty than the OEM's.

If you leave the grips switched on and there's absolutely nowt in the left one its probably a broken wire somewhere - with any luck not in the grip itself, but in view under your bars somewhere. I'm not sure how the oem ones work, but it might be possible to swap connections left to right to test if the actual left grip is working??
If not, and you go for new ones, bear in mind you can get a bit of xtra ooomph to the grips by wiring direct to the battery, or better still to an extra fusebox : eg 3 circuit solution, here  http://www.easternbeaver.com/Main/Produ ... rcuit.html

using its built-in relay, fuses, thicker wiring, switched with the ignition etc (and you can plug in other electrical goodies!)

I've just last weekend fitted some new Dr Bike heated grips to the 3CS and both sides get almost equally toasty. I tried to put tape around the left one but gave up, it kept scraping off as was putting on the new grip...so as it turns out, tape not needed on mine. They got too toasty on a ride in about 5 degrees cent. a couple days ago, on a 75 % power setting. :thumb:

right then

started her up and switched the grips on ,
after 5 mins they were nice and warm
so they work
but do they have a thermostat or summut , ie switching off when they got to a certain temperature
maybe if I don't have them on full they will stay on .
I rode it the other day with only my thin gloves on and the left definitely felt cold

but at least they work

I've the oem heated grips, and on a cold ride I thought I noticed the left grip cooler than the right. started sasha up after work this evening, heated grips then swithched on to full. both grips very warm, but I think my dealer has installed them in the wrond positions. my palms were cool and my fingers boiling. nothing I can do about it though as I had a look at the glue they used and its super strong. il prolly ruin the grips if I try take them off. il just have to get used to hot fingers lol
I'm sane, honestly. . . I got a certificate to prove it!
