Title: Tyre fitting price
Post by: Woodyflyer on June 03, 2024, 09:56:59
I'm curious to know how much folks are paying to have tyres fitted.
My local bike shop , not a main dealer , wants to charge £25 per wheel to fit tyres to loose wheels and £50 per wheel if you ride in ,whether you purchased the tyres from them or take your own tyres in.
Tyres are expensive enough and these blokes would charge you an extra £100 to fit them if you ride it service ☹️

I bought my own tyres online and had them fitted by a local bike repairer. Cost me £85 to ride in wait and ride out again. Think it was £5 or £10 cheaper for loose wheels
The benefit of taking bike in is that he gave it a quick once over too 👍

Sometimes that quick 'once over' by someone who is experienced can come in very handy and save you money and heartache in the long run, I never like messing with the rear wheel on a chain driven bike anyway!

My local man was charging £25 per wheel ride in/out a few months ago. He would already have the bike for an MOT & a bit of other work.
I can't remember the exact amount's but to get them myself (cheapest I could find) & have them fitted by him would have cost me around £10/15 less than him supplying & fitting
I let him have the job, better to have good will with your local man than save £10/15?

If you have a Triumph Rocket 3 or a Goldwing this would be money very well spent !

Had mine done last week, bloke I use charges £20 per wheel for tyre change and balance if they are loose and a little bit more £30/40 per wheel for ride in.
