Title: Can you fit earlier silencers to a 2024 1050?
Post by: Dave hendy on April 27, 2024, 21:44:35
With my 1050 ordered and my wife saying that the sound is a bit boring after my KTM, I am considering a new end can, as I don’t like the size either (although I don’t mind the sound). When I search online most of the silencer’s are dated to 2022 and don’t include the 23- model, but isn’t the exhaust the same? Plus if so, from what year? I am hoping that someone can clarify this as it will give me a better option especially 2nd hand.

I had a 2020 1050xt,  now have a 2023 1050 and the exhaust and all fittings look identical to me. I bought a Givi hugger badged for 2022 which fitted straight on the new bike.

Thanks for the reply, hopefully that makes things easier.

If it’s a new bike be aware of Suzuki’s warranty terms and conditions.

I was considering changing mine, but Suzuki only authorise some of the more expensive options. My dealer had the list.😱

I stuck with the standard exhaust to save complications.🤷‍♂️

When I got my 650 new I had a LONG chat with the dealer about mods.
He said any warranty claim they make (Suzuki pays the claim ,not the dealer, and has to be OKd by them ) will be followed up by pictures....so?....
I  left it till 10,000 miles to put Nitron suspension on it (just in case I had a lemon) and was told thaŧ would be looked at "favourably" it the event of a claim?
Not sure what that means?
Engine mods not on the accesory list ,not so much.  Hmmmm.
A  non approved can is going to need a reflash /power commander ........and then the warranty is definitely out the window  IF  there is engine trouble (unlikely but.....)
I would leave it for a bit ,get the second service done to keep the warranty uncontestable , then change it, always assuming you are thinking of keeping the warranty up.
Then IF it goes bang you can always sneak the original back on  before you take it in :icon_wink:

If it’s a new bike be aware....

I hadn’t even considered that, thanks for mentioning it. I will obviously wait until after the 600 mile service at least.

The only thing I have ever had any trouble with as far as warranty goes is a radiator grill as they tried to say it was restricting air flow!!

Are you aware of the 7 year Full Suzuki Warranty?

Yes mate, I have heard a little bit about it, although I doubt I will carry on having dealer services for that long.

Out of interest about how much are 12 month and 24 month services, which I guess are minor and major?

Stick with me on this one…….

I keep my bikes a long time. My previous bike, a CBF1000FAB, I had for ten years.

With the above in mind, this bike would probably be my last. Therefore, I thought sod it….. all I want to do is clean it and ride it. I took out a three year Suzuki service plan. 600 miles, 12, 24, 36 months and first MOT… £31 for 36 months, totalling £1116 for four services and one MOT. No price increases either. The services are done as per Suzuki servicing schedules. Paying individually the 600 mile one alone is £189. If I continue with Suzuki servicing then the warranty is extended year on year up to year 7.

My first annual service was due to be done on 2nd May. However, on the 18th April, a kind person pulled out in front of me (all on Dashcam) and my pride and joy is now written off.

Hopefully I’ll have sourced an exact replacement for it tomorrow. The last unregistered 2022 1050 XT in the country.🤞

Sorry to hear that your accident and that your bike was written off. Hopefully your new bike will be as good, always exciting getting a new bike  :lala:

I don’t have a date for mine but hopefully no longer than 2 weeks!

Thanks Dave.

My out going bike was a pre-reg 2022 (72) 1050XT been on the road 11 months.

Last June I did 3170 miles on it, down to Southern Italy. I did 600 miles from Dijon to Weston-super-Mare, on the last day. Fantastic bike.

The one I’m after is the same year / colour model, but never been registered. If the deal comes off I’ll be on a 24 plate, which may confuse some people. 👍

I thought I’d update my earlier entries on this thread.

After differing responses from dealers, I contacted Suzuki UK. I’ve attached their reply below…… basically, you can fit an aftermarket exhaust (and other parts), but they obviously won’t be covered by the Suzuki warranty. And, should any parts you fit cause issues with the bike, then that won’t be covered either.

I’ve now fitted a MIVV Speed Edge end can.👍

To answer the thread question….. this exhaust also fits the 1000 V-Strom.
