Title: Green homes grant (England)
Post by: 2112 on January 05, 2021, 11:10:11
Hello folks, a lot of you may not know that there is a grant available to upgrade a part (or parts) of your property to improve it's energy efficiency. It's called the Green homes grant and will pay up to £10,000 towards improvements such as - solid wall insulation, cavity wall insulation, under-floor insulation, loft insulation, flat roof insulation, pitched roof insulation etc. I've just had mine approved for under floor insulation. Have a peep at the link below for more information. Free money that saves you money is not to be sniffed at  :thumb:

it's a 'new' green deal to help reduce energy consumption. I have to admit it has been very poorly advertised, if I wasn't in the 'trade' then I certainly wouldn't know about it. It's almost like the government don't want to give the money away...

We had the approval but haven't been successful in getting any quotes back for loft insulation. Nothing for any of the local approved trades people. ###

Might be  different over here but I got cavity wall insulation, and the loft insulation for free and a £1000 grant to change the oil boiler to gas. I didn't know about it till a company called to my door. House does feel warmer and the gas boiler  heats the old place much quicker. I doubt it'll last 30years thou and I'll not be able to service it myself like before!

We had the approval but....
That is so frustrating and I feel your pain. I tried loads of local companies and ended up with one in Glasgow...

It's worth persevering as this money won't be available forever, there's a covid pandemic to pay for ! Good luck in your search.
