Title: Sold the Bike - Now it won't start - Damn
Post by: Himself on November 21, 2020, 19:19:16
I am in need of some collective wisdom please ...

I've sold the V-Strom and the dealer didn't want some of the accessories.

The GPS on a switched spur I was keeping, so the instrument cluster was opened as the power cable routed through the cluster housing.

The aux power (from the forum) has been removed.

The electrical Scottoiler that was directly wired to the battery has been removed.

The throttle handguard I went to replace - loosened the two allen screws on the throttle cable housing, decided to just give the dealer the new handguards and did the screws back up.

The Tupperware around the tank had to come off to remove the GPS power cable.

My problem is now that the bike will not turn over.

Turn on the key and the lights come on, the fuel pump runs and the rev counter does its normal sweep. Press the start button and the headlight dims, but nothing else happens.

I've obviously broken/disturbed/disconnected something, but I'm damned if I can find it.

Any and all suggestions most welcomed.

Thank you in advance

Himself.

The influence of the Forum is strong. After an hour of looking for the problem, I write a message on the forum and the next thing I look at is the problem - clutch safety connection.

Now fixed.

Thank you for the collective "vibes"

We call it the "force", luckily with the same results.

From the moment you posted the problem I'm sure we were all online with our thoughts........... Normally it takes a day or two.

Bad news is it only happens for V-Strom owners.

Good luck with your next ride/forum.  :thumb:

I sent a message by telepathy to check the clutch switch wiring.  Looks like it arrived...
