Title: Rear rack for the bike - as in a Rack to put the bike on the back
Post by: sharealike on August 13, 2019, 10:38:15
Anyone tinkering with this sort of rig. Perhaps put off by the lowly payloads the manufacturers of scooter racks quote. Well it can be done and drives a treat. Axle loads measured and thoroughly tested.

Made it myself. Couldn't buy one capable of carrying 250kg.

Its an adaptation of a towbar. Channel and loading ramp are galvanised steel purpose made items. Additional bracings to spread the load directly into the chassis are aluminium extrusions.

Van is a six metre Fiat Ducato. By far the most popular for camper van conversions and very robust underneath. Air assisted height adjustable rear suspension.
