hi lads I've got a TRE fitted so I've got no o/d light when in 6th but lately on initial start up the o/d light has been flashing on and off not all the time but every now n then and more often than not the fi light comes on when that happens , it does correct itself if I turn it off and on again , I don't think its a big problem but just wondering if it's happened to anyone else, thanks k8 vee

It happens if the wire connection from the gear position switch develops enough resistance for the voltage output to drop to the point the ECU "thinks" the gearbox is in sixth. With a TRE fitted, it's often the TRE or one of its wires that creates the situation.

spot on thanks mac tíre liath , am I going to cause any harm to the ecu , should I get a new TRE , what about this irregular fi light ???
-
I had exactly the same problem in May on my K7.

My OD light would come on on start up when in neutral then the FI light would come on at irregular intervals never when upright though only when it had been running for a while then put on the side stand. Took the TRE off problem solved. Ordered a new one and it's been on since with no problems. My first TRE was just over a year old when it started.

exactly what's been happening to me I couldn't figure out the deal with laying it on its sidestand but anyway , I've only had the tre fitted 6month I think I only paid £25 ish so is it the case of what you get is what you pay for or is it just pot luck , do you have a link to where I can buy a new tre please , thanks
-
I agree I was going round in loops to start with trying to find a link between the side stand and the light.
Anyway the one I bought is this and he offered full 30 day money back guarantee. Nothing to lose.

You can always ride the bike in dealer mode to see active codes generated by an FI when an FI occurs. http://www.vstrom.info/Smf/index.php/topic,7061.0.html
You can also get the stored codes read by a dealer with a Suzuki SDS tool or anyone with a HealTech Suzuki OBD tool.

if it wasn't for that 90 deg lump of an engine and spending near a grand on suspension I'd burn it and buy something with a little less straight from the crate problems
-
C'mon they're pretty damn good from scratch for the money, once a TRE fitted almost perfect, well with a few fark alls.
