Title: Glee seat comfort
Post by: martind on July 16, 2016, 19:24:35
Hello everyone,

I bought my Glee last autumn and generally have found the bike to be the most comfortable that I have owned... The seat is great compared to my previous bike, a mark 1 Versys 650.

However, recently, I've been finding the seat a bit uncomfortable even on short journeys of 20 miles or so.... And I wonder if the summer temperature has anything to do with it? Today it was around 25 degrees...

Has anyone else found this? Are there any tips of how to keep your backside cooler?  lol

Try a sheep skin seat cover from lambland.co.uk
I sewed an adjustable strap on it to go around the underside of the seat.

You'll find the vinyl seat gets warm and keeps your arse warm and makes you want to move around more.
The lamb cover is loverly and soft to sit on and turned the 200 mile seat on my wee into a 250 mile one. The Vee (taller) seat turned it into a 300 mile seat and also makes the seat slightly taller too.

Move north. We don't see temperatures like that up in Newcastle.....

Ditto. I use one of these for long trips - they're a cheap solution but work very well. The black ones can leak a bit of dye if they get very wet, so be careful if you wear light coloured bike trousers!

Hi Martind,

I have used the 3D type seat covers for several years now and they are fantastic. If you don't know about me I am a Somerset lad whom moved to Thailand and in 2014 I started making accessories for the V-Strom. I tied up with a manufacturer recently whom makes these type seat covers and had him make made to measure seat covers for the Glee & Vee2. You can purchase these very reasonably from ebay:  http://www.ebay.com/itm/172224982906?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649

I often ride in temps exceeding 35 degrees and these covers not only add comfort in cushioning but also allow air to pass between you and the seat keeping this cool. They also make wet weather riding much more comfortable as water cannot puddle in the seat or remain on the seat.
I guarantee if you purchase one of these your bum will love you!   :thumb:
