Title: My mirror has started to rattle....
Post by: Parademic on June 19, 2016, 13:53:35
Since having my service last week, my DL650 2008 has started with a rattle. After much investigation, it appears to be coming from inside my left mirror.

For the life of me I can't see anyway of getting into it, but it's slowly starting to drive me nuts. To be describe it, it sound like a metal wheel nut being shaken inside a Tupperware box.

After speaking with another friend who has a DL650 he says that his does it also.

Has anyone else had this issue and more importantly how do I fix it ?

Gareth

You would need to use heat to melt the glue that holds the glass in the head to get at the inside.

Drill a small hole and fill it with silicone or expanding foam ????

Silicone sounds like a good idea... But so does treating myself.... Hmmm. Do those mirrors attach OK to the DL659 fat rat or does it need anything else to go with it ?

Sorry for a really stupid question because probably been covered many times.
Will these fit my glee. I fitted the Givi airflow from the MRA such heaven. Still get some buffeting. Presume this from stock mirrors. Trouble is the rear view is rather good. Would these fit, relieve buffeting and is the rear view OK

They will fit. Just make sure to remove the entire old mirror. Some people left the old mirror base on. All the silver colored parts have to come off.

Glee mirror.

Of course, if you'd really wanted to treat yourself you could have bought these:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MOTORCYCLE-CRUISER-AMBER-LED-TURN-SIGNAL-LIGHT-INDICATORS-BLINKER-SIDE-MIRRORS-/201465411985?hash=item2ee8463991:g:W3UAAOSw14xWQw7E (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MOTORCYCLE-CRUISER-AMBER-LED-TURN-SIGNAL-LIGHT-INDICATORS-BLINKER-SIDE-MIRRORS-/201465411985?hash=item2ee8463991:g:W3UAAOSw14xWQw7E)

And then slip these in behind the glass :fix::

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Heated-Grips-Inserts-Handlebar-Hand-Warmers-For-Universal-Grip-ATV-Motorcycle-/351461369096?hash=item51d4bae508:g:BQwAAOSwqrtWpc4g

And you'd have had heated, indicator mirrors...

Of course you'd have to spend hours wiring, glueing and soldering everything in, and spend three times as much money, but it would definitely have stopped the rattling...
