Just a quick one here I hope. Having just got my new V strom the other day and never having worked on it before, I want to put my Sat Nav and heated grips on. Now, I'm at the stage when the tanks up and I'm ready to disconnect the said hose. I've depressed the two blue leavers and tried to pull the hose off, it doesn't seem to want to come off without a fair bit of pulling or pushing, is it a straight pull or push of the hose with the leavers compressed ( depending on which side of the tank you're on ) or do you have to rotate it to the right or left slightly. I'm reluctant to go too mad as I don't wan't to bugger it up on my 2nd day of ownership. With regards to the grips how easy is it to get the original grips off with out cutting them off, or is that the only option. Sorry if this has been asked before, I did do a search, but I drew a blank. Thanks in advance.

I found after taking a brave pill that mine was just a bit tight to pull off, I twisted back and forth at the same time and it eventually broke free and parted from the pipe quite easily.
Putting it back on was much more of a smooth operation though.

Make sure you press both sides of the clip in at the same time or it won't release.
It does require a little bit of force to pull off. But only a little. It doesn't just pop off but you won't need to be hanging off the bike pulling it.

+1 - I've only done it once and I needed that "brave pill" but it does come off with a little persuasion and goes back on a lot easier. Make sure it really does click when you put it back on though.

As a side note. Fuel does not pour out when you take it off. You will get a little from the hose but it's not much.
I thought it would be the same with the Varadero and ended up standing in 5ltrs of unleaded.
Stupid Honda external fuel pump.

2 hoses and 2 taps.
I turned the 1 off but not the other = d"oh
I now study the service manual before doing anything.
Honda find the most complex way to do everything. I still haven't found where the secondary master cylinder servo valve for the rear brake is.
There is 4 different ecu's and loads of different relays all over the bike.
When it comes to service time, I really wish I still had my DL650.

Those finding the clip to be a real problem may try bent long nosed pliers. Don't go wild and break the plastic clip though. Just pressure the ears together and wiggle the black plastic connector around to free any stickiness. Make sure the blue or grey plastic clip is properly seated over the spigot ridge when replacing and that it clicks in place.

Well I've spent the day in the garage, and I managed to get the tank off :happydance: and with the help of the misses, and more importantly all those above, that helped with good advice, managed to get it all done.
