If you use a go pro how do you mount it - been struggling with this as the sticky mount on top of the clocks is not flat so eventually loosens off - handle bar mount needs a large extension so the camera sees above the clocks, no flat surfaces for the suction cup etc etc
So if you use one how do you mount it - or is there something I can buy to make the job easier ?
I don't trust helmet mount btw

I have the SJCam which uses very similar if lower quality mounts than a Go Pro.
Mine (on a DL650 AL2 2012) is currently just between the headlights on the nose. There is a space of relative flatness there. I also had it at one point on the handle bar looking through the screen partly.
You can consider a helmet mount (look slightly strange and gets unnerving at high speed), chest mount or a favourite with some people is to manufacture a holder to keep it in the top breast pocket (if you have one).
The pads are very sticky, mine has been on the front through winter and it as sticky as a stick insect on a sticky bun.
Some people also mount on the side panels but the Strom doesn't really lend itself to that.

do you power the cams from the bike? water proof power point?

I have a Contour Roam 2 on my helmet and Innov K1 camera front and rear on the bike.
Contour has no removable battery would need to charged between rides but it is mounted very close to the helmet so you don't look like a Teletubby

I use clamp around base of mirror arm.

I only use batteries as I don't have a power supply. I have 3 x batteries but the camera is mainly used on my commute which is 45 mins and I can do there and back on one battery then charge over night.

I find that wherever you attach the GoPro to the bike, you get too much vibration. Helmet mount is fine. Really solid. It then also films where you are looking rather than just straight ahead.
You can attach an extra lanyard if you are worried about it falling off. Less than £1.

Mine is mounted on the top of my Heed bars, left hand side as the lens is further away from the winker in view. Have some wobble but not really a big problem. Engine noise near the front header is loud!
