Hi,
I wonder if anyone can suggest what might be causing a clunking noise that I get under the following circumstances, 650AL2. I roll the bike down my driveway (fairly steep incline) and use the front brake to slow/stop it, thereby extending the forks. When I next use the front brake, there is a loud clunk from the front end, but I can't tell where the noise is coming from - forks or brakes? It's done this for a while, and hasn't got any worse but I only have a couple of weeks warranty left........ I haven't noticed any problems when riding the bike normally - Thanks

That is exactly the same thing my L2 does at exactly the same kind of circumstancies. Since then, I've done full service on front brakes but the clunking is still there. I stopped being worried about it.

same on my k8, seems to be a little movement in the pads as I get it when I roll backwards as well
-
Yup. Pads are relocating in the caliper, then reseating under normal forward braking, nothing to worry about.
-
Best way to cure this problem is to close the hole on the pads that the pin goes through just enough so the pads can move freely side to side but not up and down.
I did this mod on my K6 Vee before I upgraded the calipers ..

are you sure it's the front end?
I had a hell of a clunking noise, which I thought was coming from my front end but it turned out to be my chain. I changed bearings from and back, checked the brakes, etc. but new chain, problem solved.

Morning,
Many thanks for your replies. Seems that its a known issue, and nothing to worry about - what shall I worry about next.............
