Quills are about £380, Le Vince seem to be around £440, and found some scorpions at £335
Anyone got any advice as to which are better or somewhere cheaper - or have I found about as good as it gets?
I want nice sound, but not too loud and legal
-
All down to personal preference I guess. Just look for cans that have the removable baffles, means they're legal when you want them to be and freer flowing and noisy when you want. I use Scorpion cans when I can, always been resiliant to weather and after 3 or 4 years when an internal weld boroke they repalced the can for free. Akraprovics are nice but pricey, bit like the SBK's.
Its what you think are best looking (and what your wallet thinks!!)

I've been waiting two and a half month's for my Quill can's & still no sign of them ( I was promised 2 - 3 weeks, that's why I ordered them), plenty of excuses and attitude - give them a wide berth (unless you like waiting & poor service... :bawl: ). Wolf on the other hand were most helpfull and if the Quill's don't turn up soon I'll be using them http://www.wolfracing.co.uk (http://www.wolfracing.co.uk) A week delivery for carbon ovals with removable baffles - I was quoted £460 to the door (stainless ovals £318 on the website, but email & barter !) Hello mate,
I have Scorpions on mine and they sound great with the baffles out although they do set off car alarms quite often which can be a tad embarrassing :shy: but baffles calm it down a lot!
The only niggle is that the stickers start melting off after a few months. It doesn't bother me as I pulled them off and shined up the can's. Great value for the dough though!!! :thumb:
-
would this be the wrong time to say my wife bought me Monty's Leo's off here for less than £200 ?? :shy:
-
I won't tell you how much I paid for my secondhand Scorpions, don't like seeing grown men cry. Just Got to get round to putting them on.
-
So what do we reckon of the Scorpions?
Are they 'civilised' with the baffles in?
-
I don and know yet!! I have Scorpion straight through race cans on my GSXR11 and they are not offensive at all. Pass sound tests for scrutineering on track days and no one following me gets a headache, people in the street don't get whiplash looking round to see what "that god awful noise" is. So with baffles in even more civilised I would guess. Fours and twins are different beasts though. With the baffles in they have to adhere to noise regulations so shouldn't be to offensive. There are sound clips on you tube but they're no good really coz its down to your PC's speakers etc, have to be heard in the flesh (or metal I spose).
All use the perforated tube down the middle with some packing round the outside, and a 5 or 6 inch baffle that inserts into the tube so probably not a lot of difference in real terms.

They are bloody loud with them out!
Not too far off the standard ones with em in.
-
Thanks for all your advice chaps.
Think I may get a pair, though my preference would be matt finish I can't ignore the price!
-
I got my Leo vince for £280 new, nice cans, good fit and look part of the strom.baffles come out for legal, sound superb when out or in.downside they only do an aluminium finish which rots in the winter salt,I am rubbing mine down with wet and dry already.
-
I assume that's for a 650, ie only one silencer?

Just found these blokes:

Not bad for £300 including delivery!
Bam!
-
Just down the road from me. Never met a bunch so unhelpful and rude as them. This doesn't mean there product is bad just the way they speak to people.
Tis a good price for pipes.
-
Not a bad price, would like to see a piccy when you have them on!

Leo Vince - £280
Very nice sound baffles in or out but rubbish when it comes to finish in winter, just like the strom the salt is destroying it.
I have had to rub them down with wet and dry so not that impressed as they are only 4 months old, warranty states - finish is not covered caused by salts and weathering in other countires....how pants its that
www.jhsracing.co.uk (http://www.jhsracing.co.uk) very nice people and very helpful
-
Wow... I could find any Leos for less that about £400
But I know what you mean abotu the finish - I had them on a Pegaso Strada and they rotted like you wouldn't believe.
Terrible finish.
-
The finish on my scorpions is as good as it was a year and a half ago. Still well happy with them!!! :thumb:
-
Thought I had posted this already, but can't find it. Picked up a pair of Beowolfs stainless at the BMF yesterday for £220. Slapped em on tonight, just a bit of trouble while I worked out that one of the connecting pipes was slightly longer than the other, first can back off, swapped and Robert is your mothers sibling. Sound great and the roughness between 3-4k is all but gone.
love it!
-
Akrapovic for me  Cost about £550 retail, if your lucky you could pick some up on ebay for less.
-
I went with the Beowulfs for nearly half that price.
Very happy with them too!

Leo vince now wet and dry rubbed doen, finish is awful and they don't cover it in the warranty, comes under weather
Back on the bike, they come with a little disc with 5 holes in, sounds much nicer
Been out riding today until it rained : (
Video to come
-
I run mine without the disc, what difference does it make ?
-
I had a set of Leos on my old Aprilia Pegaso Strada - the finish wasn't good and they turned to dust within a year - totally crap. I wouldn't buy them again
-
The dics makes them not so offensive and gives that V twin rumble I can only say is similar to the Honda SP1
I quite like them, I found that the throttle is more smooth throughout
They do make a difference
Why is the finish so bad on these things, salt just eats it
-
Akrapovic for me, and the best bit was they were £0.00...... After my bike took a tumble due to a blind bimbo in a car took me off...." I didn't see you " :sarc:
They were cheaper to replace than O/E cans so I was happy and the insurance was as well.
The cans sound great without baffles but not annoyingly loud. I love the cans buy I'm not sure I'd pay the £650 I got quoted if it was my hard earned.
-
The after market cans don't have a heat shield. Has anyone found any problems with panniers close to the exhuast?
Cheers
-
Hard luggage on racks ie Givi/Suzuki/Kappa etc will be fine
Soft luggage will be a problem unless they are well protected :cell:
-
Cheers. I thought they should be fine. I'am looking at getting some scorpians.
