Review by Fat Rat 17th January 2014
I wanted my Sat Nav up above the clocks on my 2013 V-Strom DL650 (Glee) so I ordered and received a Cymarc Overdash GPS Mount. 1. First Impressions/Unboxing Impressions Like other products from the same supplier, quality engineering and a quality powder coated finish. 2. Initial Setup/Installation The installation is extremely straightforward, however, there were some additional spacers required when using in conjunction with an MRA Vario Screen, I added two longer spacers to the top of the MRA Screen (30mm replaced 15mm) and obviously I had to get longer M5 Allen Bolts. 15 minutes to fit and you are left with a solid base for your GPS. 3. Real World Testing (how did it perform) The mount is solid, and the Ram Ball that comes with the mount screws on quite firmly, however, with the Ram Arm and the Tomtom Rider GPS attached there is quite a bit of leverage and the Ball came loose a couple of times. So, because I don't think I'll ever want to remove the Ball I drooped in a dollop of Araldite. Solid as a rock now. 4. Specs & Other noteworthy facts Supplied here. Ram Arm here 5. Tester's Opinion (summary) A very sturdy mount and in fact it's possibly over engineered which is not meant as a criticism (see note about Ram Ball), you need to buy a short Ram Arm to mount your GPS so factor this into the cost. 6. Star Rating I give this product 5Stars. 1 star = piece of crap 2 star = maybe I should have done more research before buying this? 3 star = decent bit of kit for the money 4 star = better than expected with some nice extras/features 5 star = does it have a sister I can marry?! (aka I will buy this again!) 7. Pictures (click for larger image)
