DL650 low seat
« on: November 17, 2011, 16:47:03 »
Help! Just ordered and received a supposedly lower seat for my 650 vstrom, supposed to be 20mm lower, but when I tried it on it feels exactly the same height as my original. Side by side, they look the same too.The part number on the box and invoice says 45100-27810-H1N and on the box it says seat set, low DL650.
I ordered online through Shopatron Suzuki  and it was sent out via Thunder Road Motorcycles in Bridgend. I phoned them and they're looking into it, but because I've ordered through a third party it's a bit complicated.
I'd have thought I should notice a 20mm reduction. The seat itself hasn't got a number on.
I know from reading on here that the DL1000 low seat is actually  DL650 standard seat so I'm wondering if that's what they've sent me. Does anyone have any ideas or actually got a lower seat for their DL650 and noticed the difference? Paid £166 inc. postage so feeling a bit fed up. Peter

I'll be honest, I thought there were only three seat heights available ? There's the standard Wee seat, the standard Vee seat (20mm higher than the Wee) and the tall touring seat (20mm higher than a Vee seat). And the gel seat which is a standard size. Have you checked the parts number against the Suzuki UK website ? Best of luck, Bry.

Cheers Bry, yes the part number on the box is right but I'm wondering if they put the right seat in the box (no serial number on the seat). I bought the bike new but the other possibility is that it already had the low seat on when I bought it (say if it had been a cancelled order from another customer?)

Hmmm, that's a good posibility. See if you can return it may be the best option ? Failing that you would be able to sell it on here, if all else fails.

I stumbled on this old discussion on the VSRI forum which might help you (or not!)

"Confirmed with my dealer yesterday... they are two part #'s, but they are the same exact thing. If you look in the dealers accessory book there is a * next to the "low seat" part listing, then at the bottom of that page it references the * and says "same as DL650K6 stock seat". I'm getting a refund for mine.

It could be a little more clear in the parts description for sure. Here is my information and feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

45100-06G60-H1N Tall Seat +20mm or 3/4" for DL1000
                               Tall Seat +40mm or 1 1/2" for DL650  All

*45100-06G50-H1N Low Seat -20mm or 3/4" for DL1000  All
DL650 Standard Seat

45100-06G10-H1N Stock DL1000 Seat +20mm or 3/4" Taller than Regular DL650 Seat

99950-62186  (Gel) DL1000/650, Dimensions simular to 45100-06G60-H1N Tall Seat

I hope this will help clarify the VStrom seat debate!

Cheers! "

Thanks for that. All very confusing though! It'd help if the seat itself had a part number on it. Cheers for the reply. Peter

Seats should have a part number moulded into the bottom. Also see the link in my signature for the info compendium, there is a section with seat info and part numbers.
